132 Scality Rocks Scality rocks, of course! But do you know why and do you know how? The inspiration came from the Rock ‘n Roll era of the 1970s and the 1980s: The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2, The Who, The Beatles, AC/DC, Guns and Roses, to name a few… These bands are talented, creative, authentic, free spirited, hard-working, and determined. They started from nothing and became international successes within a few years, contributing to the history of music for generations to come, cultivating and radiating the energy needed to reach success and inspire millions of fans worldwide. As per our values at Scality, we are bold, we are disruptive, we advocate camaraderie, we are socially responsible and we recognize exceptional performance. And we embody a certain Rock ‘n Roll spirit: A very similar mind-set to these famous bands! We too thrive for passion, imagination, disruption… We too started from nothing and became leaders in our industry within a few years. We too challenge ourselves daily to remain leaders. We too want to make history and inspire millions of people to get out there and create! When you pay a visit to Scality, it is pretty easy to feel this Rock ‘n Roll influence. Walking around our offices worldwide will take you on a true Rock ‘n Roll experience. You may be invited to a meeting in Led Zeppelin or taken to Noir Désir for a private chat whilst being watched by a giant portrait of David Bowie. If you are very lucky, you may even rock up to one of our executives playing their favourite songs with other Scality musicians! This mindset is truly brought about when the time comes to celebrate the end of the year with our very own Rock n Roll party, Scality Rocks! For one night and one night only, the Paris office is transformed to welcome over 400 guests of which employees, clients, partners, investors, candidates, journalists and more generally all of Scality’s friends! With the help of Yann de Seze and his company Maya&Co (http://mayaco.fr/), we embrace this logistical challenge and create a fun, kind of crazy evening for all of our guests to experience a bit of our passion, our camaraderie and our diversity. In just 5 hours, our 800 square meter offices are transformed and ready to welcome our guests by 7pm and host the party of the year! At 9am the next morning, everything is back in place for a normal business day. In the meantime, it’s all about dancing, laughing, sharing, experiencing and creating great memories! At Scality, we are frugal but generous and Scality Rocks is a great example of this. The food is simple but amazing, the cocktails are few, but exceptional. The band is local and small, but creates the scene for a party to remember. Every single detail is considered in advance, from the Harley Davidson greeting our guests downstairs to the pictures on the wall and the costumes worn during the evening. Last year we paid tribute to Rock ‘n Roll icon David Bowie. This year, for our 4th Scality Rocks, it will be all about the artist who was selected by the Rolling Stone Magazine a few years back as the best guitarist in the history of Rock n Roll: Jimi Hendrix. Widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix pioneered the explosive possibilities of the electric guitar. Jimi Hendrix became a legend after his death at the wretched age of 27… the Voodoo Child, who was always seeking new experiences. At Scality, this Rock ‘n Roll lifestyle has grown over the years. From one of the founders being a guitar expert to most of our employees now praising each other for a job exceeding expectations by saying “You Rock!”. You absolutely do not have to be a Rock ‘n Roll fan to join Scality but chances are you will adopt this spirit within a few weeks of you being in the house. “Scality Rocks” and now you know why!
